HI Brad JU et al.
I am quite happy to see that this area is being
discussed in relation to art. I am an artist who has a
LD, one that gives me a disconnect between thoughts
and actions. My "malfunction" is somewhere in between
body and mind.
My own work deals with a disconnect between experience
and expression. The installations I create enhance
this disconnect for the public.
When it comes to integrating into a cybernetic system,
for me I do not feel "enhanced" rather I feel
"enabled" or "formed" to fit the culture around me.
But then my art uses technology to do the opposite to
others.
As Ju and Brad had talked of the exoskeleton and
techno-mechanical augmentation which is outwardly
visible. I float in a world where on the outside I am
seen as able-bodied, but internally the wiring is
gibbled.
Over the years of looking at work that involves the
physical bodies relation to technology (not only in
art but science and science fiction) the view has from
the most part been from an able bodied perspective.
Most of the galleries that I show in are not
Accessible, but when I make my work I do think about
how would someone with limited mobility interact with
the piece, and I try to make it as open as possible
but if you cant get into the building you cant
experience the installation.
Brad and Ju and others
I look forward to the discussion
