Dear all

Thank you to our guests and other contributors for their valuable comments
and discussions around bioart throughout the past month.

It is clear that bioart continues to generate debate about its position and
status within systems of taxonomy and meaning. Bioart works challenge such
systems by generating slippage across the dualistic divide - whether that be
the organic and inorganic, the individual and the whole, the natural and the
synthetic, the scientific and the artistic.

This is perhaps the reason that bioart (of all the examples of collaboration
between the arts and sciences) best demonstrates the need to move beyond
dichotomous structures of meaning and classification to more accurately
capture and represent the complexity of contemporary interdisciplinary
practice.

Thanks again for your contributions and I will post shortly about the next
discussion, beginning on the 1st of April, which will be about robotics.

Vicki
