[Synapse elist] stupidity

I was concerned about the ergonomics of the setup for the cockroach-it didn't look right to me. Also it also seemed to me that any sideways movements that the cockroach is obviously capable of making, the robot is not! Has the field of view of the cockroach's vision been taken into account or is this an anthropomorphism?

Hello everyone,
How do i see this project? They are some things that we can do. This
does not mean that we should do them..
Leave the cockroaches alone!

Although robot/animal symbiosis it is an interesting field to explore
it raises many ethical questions. But the main problem is plain
stupidity. As we know, especially in the field of art, stupidity is
many times broadcast by artists and curators as a witty idea.

I think inputs from the field cyborg gives us good suggestion to the
cockroach research.
The approach of cyborg (I think) can be categorized into either
replacement or enhancement(1).
And speaking of the replacement, it replaces a part of a machine by
living things(2), or part of living things by machine(3).
(1) military products, intelligent watch, power suits
(2) cockroach robot
(3) prosthetic hand, artificial organ
I feel the border between life and machine becomes blurry
(also enhanced by IPS cell research) and people gradually
loose the confidence being as human.
I even feel comfortable when I see paintings coming from
renaissance era, compare to some painted recently.
Although these technologies seem to be developed recently, the concepts
itself have existed since long time ago.
Shoes, clothes (1), honey bee or silkworm, spy pigeon (2).
We might not have to be worried so much about the recent outcomes in
this field.

but then again, why do you lose confidence? are you less human with
eyeglasses on? are you less human with a tooth filling? are you less
human with a pacemaker? with a knee implant? artificial heart valve?
the above are all routine today... yes, they all make you a cyborg.
